I love Dust

Some more work from these guys and again some more type based stuff.
This time I found some work that has really inspired me and given me the basis to my metro coverwrap designs, I've always seen good examples of these kind of designs floating around, mass amounts of text within a frame, thought Im going to make one! So yeah, this being the basis and inspiriation behind my designs for the coverwrap brief.

I love Dust

I fucking do love dust. Design agency based in Shoreditch, East London. They do have some quality work going on,
First post on these guys, some pieces of work from their typography files...
Most of these realy relate to my snowboard illustrations, focusing on this shiny kind of bubbly 3d effects made just by adding simple shadow / highlights. This being good for me to see as Im still fairly new to the whole world of digital illustration, always learning new techniques, little things to make designs more convincing and well more professional really.
So yeah these are just a few examples that caught my eye....

Big client within their aswell, Nike. A client I aspire to work for.

Another branding identity i found on Behance. This time being for a creative agency in Norway.
Firslty... Black, White and a motherfucking bright colour. Always said it, good graphic design = black white and a bright colour. Its hard to go wrong with it. This being a brilliant example i think of when it goes right!
Personalised business cards. Really relates to my second brief, where I myself has had to create individual business cards within the same set. Essentially we have both done the same (designer here and I) Same layout and colours, but photo of the designer. For me I have the same layout and what not but each DJ's logo, but one more thing I've done is change the colours on the front, making it more obvious at a tiny glance who it is for, not only associating subjects with their logo but also a specific chosen colour.

Really strong example of a range within a brand stationary, being a design agency they can afford and well benefit from having a really extensive range of stationary as to show clients what they cant to, no limits and all that, what I intend on doing for my second brief is having a credible range as this but try to keep it really appropriate to the subject at hand, that being music / DJ's etc.

Beautiful. I intend on checking this studio out an all. `

Some branding and identity work I came across on Behance. The identity is for a nightclub. I wouldn't immediately associate the card with a nightclub but I believe it does connote thoughts of young, fresh, exciting culture, probably even going as far as music. So in those terms I think its done well.
Also just using a simple idea of a bright colour always draws attention, when used at the right amount anyway, which it is here.
This being a similar idea to what I had for the record label brief, using a bright colour on the front of the card, with the logo on, works here and works on mine.
A fan of the unique letterheads, using tracing paper to print a bold message on, keeping in with visual identity of it, clever and refreshing.

Death & Taxes

Death & Taxes are a marketing / design agency based in Salt Lake City, Utah. stateside bitch!

I came across them via Super Top Secret design agency who I've spoke about on my PPD blog, as D&T do a lot of work for and via them as it is essentially some of the same people I believe.
Anyway the agency do a lot of work with K2 Snowboarding, creating board artwork and general branding and identity for their products...

Really relevant to my practice in terms of some of my briefs being snowboard orientated but also this being a place I would like to see myself working, or rather have similar clients! Looks like I need to get stateside so far.
Their website isn't great for showcasing their work but they do have some strong work, specifically the stuff they've done for K2 is all pretty high standard. But working for clients that big (in that sector) is a big deal, so they must be pretty sick.

Nitro Circus

In reference to brief four, this kind of imagery is what I kind of had in mind for the collage, American style graphics - shooting stars.

HTFR

Hard To Find Records is a massive DJ store based in Birmigham / online. Went here to look at the whats possible in terms of products and printed goods appropriate to DJ's and the music scene. From doing so, creating a list of possible products to use within my second brief for a record label / DJ's.

Big list of possibilities!
Slipmats.

Cartridges

Turntables

Headphones

Headphones case
This being a good idea, having a collab of brands, Seinnheiser and adidas creating something pretty special. Watch out, Seinnheiser & NDNR.

CD case
Vinyl bag

Vinyl Sleeves

Im really interested in producing / proposing designs for some of these products...

At the moment I'm feeling the vinyl sleeves / headphones / slipmats and cartridges. Some of which will be easier to create / mock up than others!

Officiall Classic

Hungary based design studio, they have got some seriously dark type shit goin on! Il be posting more work from them in the not too distant future but I came across a couple of poster designs from them that really relate to the coverwrap work Im starting to work on...

Beautiful, a load of type splashed over a page. Really like this style of work, collage with sick type designs, type as image I guess. It may very well just be pretty and nothing more, but by jove is it appealing to me!

More Spanish Design

Another music based spanish publication i came across, can't recall where I got it from, another 'save image' done job.
Bit more of a formal look than the other editorials I've talked about. Not keen on the covers, makes them look quite dull and boring, average use of pastel colours I reckon. But the use of type on the double page spreads and posters is pot on for me. Again a strong relationship between the type and image, even and complimenting. Why don't the covers look like the posters!?
