Logo

The name of the shape is a Roundel. A roundel is essentially any rounded shape, however it is most commonly used with military aircraft as a type of national insignia. This working well for the BME, as that roundel is for the Royal Air Force of blighty, its effectively shouting 'OH HI THERE IM BRITISH!'
The image brings connotations of Britain by also using the colours of the Union Jack and is also similar to public transportation in and around london, the underground. This is also a positive effect of the logo, as the BME is in London so when people look at the logo they may think, oh Britian, underground, London.
Another strong connotation of the logo is the Mod scene, that from doing research i found started in the mid late 50's and peaked at roughly the mid 60's, artists such as The Who & Paul Weller are seen as being Mod, its music related so thats good!
