Masa

Mexican graphic designer, takes inspiration from Latin American culture working for large global clients.
I found his work from looking into snowboard artwork, as below he has designed artwork for Rome Snowboards aswell as this he has produced designs for Nike & VW.
Im not the biggest fan of his board designs, the bright green one is quite nice but I wouldn't buy any of them. What does interest me about them is firstly the process he goes through to produce the artwork. As essentially it is just coming up with pretty images, there doesn't need to be a context or reasoning behind it.

Looking at the pattern sample below it seems as though that would have been created first then it would have been taken into the format and frame of a snowboard. Then tackling the type, which will always include the brand name of the company and possibly the name of the board.

What also interests me about Masa and his work is that although he has designed snowboards he's also alongside this producing work for massive brands such as Nike & The BBC. This being something that I aspire to and would like to be able to do. Design for stuff I love but be good enough to design for bigger and better things.
